Due to the shortage of international visitors invading the Commonwealth Games, their have been rumors that these games could in fact be the very last. Television statistics show that the ratings for this years games have dropped highly thus supporting the rumour. The community has simply lost interest. This comes as no suprise to me. My head is still getting around the idea that Dehli was even a choice. India is a country with over 1 billion people with more than half the nation living in dire poverty. The money invested into these games by India could have been better spent on itself. The economical advantages of being a games host in this case has not worked in India's favour.
In a nation where people are starving and dying on a daily basis because they can not afford medicine let alone food, it appalls me to think of all that money wasted on preparing the city for the games. Perhaps more research by the games officials, and the Indian government could have prevented this poor outcome. This sort of thing is just another illustration that people are getting accustomed to poverty despite the fact that poverty is not a natural thing. In the beginning of creation Adam and Eve lived in sheer abundance. But just like Adam and Eve who gave into temptation, man is still giving in to its selfish desires. Adam didn't profit than and man will not profit now. As the scripture goes, "what profits a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul", ABSOULTELY NOTHING!
The rich keep on getting greedy and the poor keep on dying.
When will poverty end.
